It has revolutionized cross-cutting disciplines from communication to medicine. As a pre-celebration of the Year of Light, IAS
Visiting Professors Marvin Cohen and Yuen-Ron Shen (both from University
of California at Berkeley) will review the essential role of optical characterization in understanding the properties of materials. Several local experts will also talk about new advances in light based science and technology.
